The Donnis Trio - All Directions
San Diego, CA – January 23rd marked the long awaited release of The Donnis Trio’s debut album All Directions. The disc captures a span of old and new material by award-winning songwriter Nate Donnis and is the maiden voyage of the independent Shady Tree Records label.
Guitarist/vocalist Nate Donnis is backed on All Directions by the multi-talented drummer/producer/recording engineer Phil Woodring, and the artful bass of Denis Sluka. The album also features an array of guest musicians including a three-piece horn section led by saxophonist Chris Williams and lush string arrangements by Tony Rogers, as well as an appearance by Ned Giblin of Brehon Law on mandolin.
Rooted in folk, acoustic rock, and reggae, the fourteen original songs on All Directions resonate with sleek acoustic arrangements, lyrical depth, and rich vocals. “Each track really has its own character.” notes Donnis. “We approached each song differently so that we could capture the essence and honesty of the lyric”.
The Trio was recently awarded first place in the San Diego Songwriter’s Guild contest by music industry professionals including: Brian Rawlings-VP Disney Music, Christopher Brooks – LA Film Score Producer, and local radio dj’s from San Diego. Their song “Tip of the Tongue” has also garnered attention from the local independent station 102.1 KPRI and is set to air within the coming weeks. The album was released on January 23, 2007 on Shady Tree Records and is available at the band’s live shows as well as the Shady Tree Records online store.
